Intertype Relations

One of the most practical applications of socionics is understanding how different personality types interact with each other. Socionics identifies 16 different types of intertype relations.

  • Duality - The most complementary relationship type
  • Activation - Energizing and stimulating interaction
  • Mirror - Similar but with different strengths
  • Identity - Same type, easy understanding
  • Semi-duality - Good but with some friction
  • Illusionary - Initially attractive but can be disappointing
  • Kindred - Similar values and approaches
  • Business - Can work together but with effort
  • Super-ego - Different approaches to life
  • Quasi-identity - Similar but with fundamental differences
  • Conflict - Most challenging relationship type
  • Supervision - One type naturally criticizes the other
  • Request - One type naturally seeks help from the other
